Emergency Medical Services

Emergency Medical Services provides safe and efficient treatment and transportation of patients in emergency and non-emergency capacities.

CMH Pre-Hospital Services Department

The Pre-Hospital Services Department at CMH includes Emergency Medical Services, EMS Education and Mobile Integrated Healthcare.

Emergency Medical Services

Highly trained staff provide safe, exceptional and compassionate care to our communities through Emergency Medical Services.

Ambulance Services

CMH provides ambulance services to four counties in southwest Missouri: Polk, Hickory, Cedar and St. Clair. Services include 9-1-1 emergency response and non-emergency medical transport. Ambulances are equipped with advanced medical life support for adult and pediatric patients.

CMH Pre-Hospital Services is certified as pediatric-ready by Missouri EMS for Children. CMH is recognized as a high-quality care provider for time-critical diagnosis with trauma, heart attack, stroke and sepsis care. Ambulances are staffed by EMTs and paramedics who are licensed and certified to provide exceptional and compassionate care.

Mobile Integrated Healthcare

Mobile Integrated Healthcare is a patient-centered, mobile, collaborative team of health care professionals. Their collaboration improves the patient experience, quality outcomes and community health while reducing health care costs.

MIH services are available throughout CMH's eight-county service area. The MIH team includes community health workers, hospital care managers and community paramedics working together to fill health care gaps. This team helps the most vulnerable patients with the greatest need to obtain the proper care for the best outcomes.

MIH patients may not qualify for health services elsewhere, cannot travel for clinic visits and have continuous health risks. Patients are typically high-risk and require innovative care delivery. Care managers, primary care physicians or emergency room physicians can refer patients to the program.

EMS Education

The EMS Education Department provides state-of-the-art education to develop and support a team of exceptional emergency medical professionals.

CMH provides EMS initial education for all levels, from first responder through advanced paramedic. Course offerings include:

  • First responder academy: Held as needed through partnerships with local fire/rescue departments.
  • EMT academy: Held once or twice yearly and meets two nights per week and every other weekend for 16 weeks.
  • Paramedic academy: Held once per year and meets two days per week for three 16-week semesters.
  • A wide variety of other support and academy courses are also available.
