EMS Training

CMH Emergency Medical Services offers training classes for working toward various levels of certification to provide emergency medical response.

Emergency Medical Responder Academy

Emergency Medical Responders initiative immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical system. After successful course completion, students are eligible to test for Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Responder certification. The 60-hour course is taught as needed upon the request of a local fire/rescue agency.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Academy

Emergency Medical Technicians provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical patients in the emergency medical system. After successful course completion, students are prepared for and eligible to test for National EMT Certification and Missouri EMT Licensure. Begin this 16-week course in January or September. Classes are held in the evenings and on weekends.

Summer EMT Internship Academy

After successful course completion, students are prepared for and eligible to test for National EMT Certification and Missouri EMT Licensure. Students completing the course also are eligible for employment at CMH as full-time EMT interns. Earn an hourly stipend while earning your license and training as an EMT.  The registration fee also is reimbursable with a signed agreement to work for CMH for one year. The 12-week course begins in June.

Paramedic Academy

Paramedics are allied health professionals whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. After successful course completion, students are prepared for and eligible to test for National Paramedic Certification and Missouri State Paramedic Licensure. The 16-week course begins in January.

Community Paramedic Academy

A Community Paramedic is a state-licensed EMS professional who has completed an appropriate educational program and has demonstrated competence in the provision of health education, monitoring and services beyond the roles of traditional emergency care and transport and in conjunction with medical direction. Community Paramedics are part of the Mobile Integrated Healthcare team at CMH. After successful course completion, students are prepared for and eligible to test for International Community Paramedic Certification and Missouri State Community Paramedic Licensure. The 12-week course begins in September.
