CMH Home Medical Equipment store in Stockton to close Sept. 15

The Citizens Memorial Home Medical Equipment store in Stockton will close on Friday, Sept. 15. The HME store is located inside CMH Stockton Rehabilitation Clinic, 1521 S. Third Street in Stockton.

CMH has operated an HME retail store in Stockton since March 2006. CMH will continue to provide HME services to the Stockton and Cedar County area through a consignment closet at CMH Stockton Family Medical Center and delivery services from the CMH-Bolivar store.

According to Jim Russell, director of CMH home medical equipment, the consignment closet will include items such as bracing, crutches, wheelchairs and bath aides. “Patients will still be able to access medical equipment in Stockton,” Russell said. “In addition to the consignment closet through the medical clinic, we will continue to offer medical equipment delivery services to Stockton and Cedar County.”

Patients using home oxygen services from the HME-Stockton store can have their oxygen delivered to their homes by calling the HME-Bolivar location at 417-326-3584.

“The majority of the business through the HME-Stockton store was from home oxygen services,” Russell said. “We’ve already contacted those patients impacted by this change and have a plan in place for them.”

According to Russell, several factors went into the decision to close the retail store including personnel turnover, less foot traffic in the Stockton location, increased costs to maintaining medical supply inventory, and the need for additional space for the rehabilitation clinic where the HME-Stockton store is located.
