Cindy Smith receives the October 2023 CMH DAISY Award

Cindy Smith, RN, is the recipient of the October 2023 CMH DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She is a registered nurse at the CMH Walk-In Clinic.

Smith’s nomination for the Daisy Award came from another CMH employee.

“I have had to take my mom to the walk-in clinic several times over this past year, and usually Cindy is her nurse. I just love her! She treats my mom with respect and kindness and never makes us feel like we are a burden,” the nomination states. “We have had a couple of embarrassing incidents when we have been there, and Cindy never makes me feel bad. She acts like it’s no big deal and continues doing her job. Cindy is always so sweet to help us out to the car when we leave. I am always so thankful for her. She embodies everything a good nurse is: kind, compassionate, competent, efficient and gentle.”

About the DAISY Award

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation established the award in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 of an auto-immune disease. The international award thanks nurses everywhere.

CMH started the DAISY Award program in January 2019. A CMH or Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation nurse receives the award each month.
