OVERVIEW
The Medical Excellence Scholarship was established in 1990 by Citizens Memorial Healthcare – Foundation. This scholarship was designed to help residents of our service area to achieve their dreams of working in a career in healthcare.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
To be eligible for a Medical Excellence Scholarship, you must:
- Show evidence of acceptance to an academic program defined as a program of study leading to eligibility for licensure or registration from a duly accredited and licensed institution of higher learning in an allied health care field or in a two- or four-year clinical laboratory program
- Live within and have the ability to (return or) remain in the CMH service area following education and fulfill the work repayment requirement
- Complete all required application information, including references and official school transcripts, by the application deadline
- Show a minimum of a 2.5 non-weighted grade point average on a 4.0 scale for high school or post-secondary educational coursework
Eligible professions include the following:
- Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
- Clinical Social Worker
- Medical Technologist (M.T.)
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Occupational Therapist (O.T. or OTR)
- Pharmacist (Pharm.D.)
- Physical Therapist (P.T.)
- Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
- Radiologic Technologist (R.T)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Speech Therapist (S.T.)
- Other licensed and/or registered profession as approved
