CMH Hospice honors loved ones and community partners at Lights of Remembrance event
Citizens Memorial Hospice hosted its annual Lights of Remembrance event Nov. 10 at the Kerry and Synda Douglas Medical Center in Bolivar. The gathering welcomed the holiday season with an evening of reflection, remembrance and community celebration.
The event honored loved ones who have passed away and recognized the individuals and organizations who help make compassionate end-of-life care possible. Musical performances by the Bolivar High School Chamber Choir, directed by Morgan DeClue, and musician Ron George added to the evening’s atmosphere of comfort and hope.
As part of the program, CMH Hospice presented its annual awards for outstanding compassion, service and partnership in hospice care:
- Hathaway-Peterman Funeral Home – CMH Hospice Light Award
- Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home – CMH Hospice Light Award
- CMH Long-Term Care – CMH Hospice Partner in Care Award
- Dr. Kristopher Kaufmann – CMH Sue McCoy Hospice Service Award
- Grayson, the Hospice Dog – CMH Gentle Guardian Award
The Lights of Remembrance program supports CMH Hospice’s mission of helping people live fully and comfortably while preserving their dignity in the final stages of life. Community members may contribute to the program in honor or memory of loved ones, helping ensure that all terminally ill patients and their families receive physical, emotional, spiritual and bereavement care.
A display next to the Christmas tree on the second floor of the Douglas Medical Center includes the names of loved ones remembered through Lights of Remembrance donations. Community members can still donate at https://cmhbolivar.info/LOR2025.
