Brianna Stoops receives July 2025 CMH DAISY Award

Brianna Stoops, RN, is the recipient of the July 2025 CMH DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She is a registered nurse with Citizens Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department.

She was nominated for the DAISY Award by the daughter of a patient.

In her nomination, the patient’s daughter wrote, “My mom was a code coming by emergency medical services from home, and we had started CPR after she lost her pulse at home. I knew with her hypoxic injury, there was little hope for survival and a quality of life.” She went on to explain that her mother had previously been highly independent and social.

The daughter shared that Stoops went above and beyond to care for both the patient and her family, taking time to explain things and address their spiritual needs. “I realize the staff see dying patients on a regular basis,” she wrote, “but Brianna did not treat us or my mom like it was just another code. … We never felt rushed to withdraw care and open up the bed for the next patient. I have been an RN in the hospital setting for almost 30 years, and it warms my heart to see a young, sharp nurse leading the way for the next generation of nursing.”

About the DAISY Award

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation established the award in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 of an auto-immune disease. The international award thanks nurses everywhere.

CMH started the DAISY Award program in January 2019. A CMH or Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation nurse receives the award each month.
