Angie Long receives the July 2023 CMH DAISY Award

Angela Long, MSN, RN, is the recipient of the July 2023 CMH DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She is the director of behavioral health operations and oversees behavioral health in the clinic setting and Parkview Geriatric Wellness at Citizens Memorial Hospital.

A patient’s family member nominated Long for the compassionate care she gave to her father, ultimately saving his life.

“She took time to listen to my dad about his concerns, frustration and general need for his care,” the patient’s daughter wrote. “While he was admitted for mental health and depression, she gave no judgment for him but was there by his side every step of the way.

“Angela gave my dad a new hope to keep living. I can’t thank Angela enough for the compassion she showed him and making sure he was taken care of like it was her own dad when I couldn’t be there to save him.”

About the DAISY Award

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation established the award in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 of an auto-immune disease. The international award thanks nurses everywhere.

CMH started the DAISY Award program in January 2019. A CMH or Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation nurse receives the award each month.
