CMH, Polk County Health Center to provide free car seat checks Aug. 5

Citizens Memorial Hospital and Polk County Health Center have collaborated with Westlake Ace Hardware and Children’s Miracle Network to provide free car seat checks on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon at Westlake Ace Hardware, 2300 S. Springfield Ave., in Bolivar.

CMH and PCHC car seat technicians, certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), will provide education and hands-on assistance to ensure your child’s car seat is installed correctly.

According to the NHTSA, while most parents and caregivers are confident that they have installed their child’s car seat correctly, 46%--almost half--are installed incorrectly.

The certified car seat technicians at the safety event will assist with correctly installing a car seat and booster seat, provide education on NHTSA’s car seat recommendations based on a child’s age and size, and provide safety information and car seat inspections.
