Shasta Rouse named recipient of the May 2023 CMH DAISY Award

Shasta Rouse, RN, received the May 2023 CMH DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She is a registered nurse with Citizens Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

A patient’s daughter nominated her for the DAISY Award for the care Rouse gave to her father.

“She was so gentle and patient with him,” the daughter wrote. “Had I not known otherwise, I would have thought he was her only patient. I can honestly say she was the best nurse I have encountered. She did such an amazing job of keeping our family and my dad abreast of his constantly changing health care situation.”

About the DAISY Award

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation established the award in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 of an auto-immune disease. The international award thanks nurses everywhere.

CMH started the DAISY Award program in January 2019. A CMH or Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation nurse receives the award each month.
