CMH Celebrates Dedicated Health Professionals May 11-17
Healthcare workers play a vital role in improving community health through compassionate care, dedication and innovation. Citizens Memorial Hospital and Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation will celebrate all 1,782 employees during National Hospital Week and National Long-term Care Week May 11-17.
“From providing medical care in the hospital, clinics and long-term care facilities to running vital programs in our communities, our CMH employees are committed to supporting the health and well-being of our residents,” says Donald J. Babb, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of CMH. “This special week is about celebrating our employees who care for our patients and residents every day.”
The nation’s largest health care event, National Hospital Week, dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community-wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.
The American Health Care Association says the National Long-term Care Week provides an opportunity to honor those who contribute to the nation's nursing homes, including staff, residents, family members and volunteers. Long-term care is an important aspect of life for Americans.
CMH operates six long-term care facilities in the following locations: Ash Grove Healthcare Facility, Ash Grove; Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility, Bolivar; Colonial Springs Healthcare Center, Buffalo; Community Springs Healthcare Facility, El Dorado Springs; Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility, Stockton; and Parkview Healthcare Facility, Bolivar. CMH also operates one residential care facility, Butterfield Residential Care Center, Bolivar.
Locally, CMH is celebrating with a free luau lunch for all CMH employees and volunteers. For more information about CMH National Hospital and Long-term Care Week, contact the CMH Marketing Department at 417-328-7245.
