The ACLS provider course is a 2 day course designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient,in or out of the hospital. This course should enhance skills in the treatment of arrest and periarrest patients through active participation in a series of simulated cardiac and respiratory cases. These scenarios are designed to reinforce important concepts, including: Basic Life Support (BLS) Primary Survey, The ACLS Secondary Survey, ACLS algorithms, and Effective resuscitation team dynamics. At the conclusion, participants should be able to: Recognize and initiate early management of peri-arrest conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome. Demonstrate proficiency in providing BLS care including AED use. Manage Cardiac arrest until the return of spontaneous circulation, transfer of care, or termination of resuscitation. Identify and treat ischemic chest pain and expedite the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes. Recognize other life threatening situations, such as stroke, and provide effective initial care. Demonstrate effective communication as a member or leader of a resuscitation team and recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance.
