Michael Calhoun shares the latest happenings at CMH in his monthly CEO Updates. He is the CEO/executive director of CMH and the Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation.

We are so excited about the hospital expansion, the work that’s been done and the new hospital tower that’s being built here in Bolivar.

I want to personally invite the community to an open house and a tour of the new hospital tower on Feb. 28. This is your opportunity to see the facility before we move in. You’ll get to see behind the scenes in the patient rooms and the areas we’ve built to provide care.

CMH’s growth

We’ve been growing over the years at CMH, and the new hospital expansion is really a better reflection of the services we provide now. It gives us an opportunity, as we grow in the future, to have space to grow into.

All of the spaces are brand new. They’re state-of-the-art. They’re furnished and equipped with the latest technology. Not only are we providing a new space for our community to receive care, but we’re also providing the newest in equipment and technology so we can better care for our patients.

Exclusive first look for employees

We’re also going to have an opportunity for our employees, physicians and volunteers to get an exclusive look at the facility before the public. We are really excited for our employees to see this first. They have received invitations to sign up for a tour during their exclusive time.

Tour RSVP

We expect a lot of people to join us for this open house, so it will be really helpful to us if you could let us know you’re coming by filling out an RSVP. Just let us know that you’re coming and how many people you’re going to bring. That way, we can make sure we have the accommodations to make it a really nice and efficient tour for you.

End of Phase One

This point in time marks the end of Phase One of our project. That opens up Phase Two. After we open this facility, we will renovate portions of the existing hospital. We have several services that we’re going to be building into the existing facility. Those renovations will take place throughout 2026.

A historic celebration

But we want to take some time as we open the new part of the expansion to celebrate with you and show off the great work that went into building this new hospital.

This is a historic time at CMH. It’s not very often that a community the size of Bolivar gets to celebrate the opening of a new hospital, but we’re excited this spring to be able to do that. It’s really important to us that we involve our community. The reason we are what we are is because of you. Because of your support of our organization. Because you use our services.

We want you to see the investment we’ve made back into the Bolivar community. So please join us. We’re excited to share in this with you, and we look forward to seeing you at the open house.
