Brooke Jones named April 2022 CMH TULIP Award winner

Brooke Jones, a medical assistant at Citizens Memorial Hospital’s Pleasant Hope Family Medical Center, was named the April 2022 CMH TULIP Award winner.

The TULIP Award was established June 2021 by CMH and Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation and is a recognition program for outstanding nursing assistants, medical assistants and patient care technicians who assist in direct patient care.

Pleasant Hope Family Medical Center is where Jones cared for a patient who nominated her for the TULIP Award because of her professionalism and kindness.

“When Brooke first saw me, I was dehydrated and feeling very ill,” the nomination stated. “She was kind and listened. She said she felt a vein at my elbow and knew she could draw from there. She was right. She is so professional and yet kind.”

The patient explained that normally laboratory assistants have difficulties drawing her blood, which makes it painful for her. However, Jones was able to draw this patient’s blood on two different occasions without any difficulties or pain for the patient, while also taking the time to listen to her.

Jones says it’s a very humbling feeling to receive this award. “I work really hard to make sure that I make people feel good,” Jones said, adding that it’s great to get positive feedback about the impact her hard work has made on a patient’s life.

Jones said she always loves patients at every health care facility where she has worked, but she likes working at CMH because of the staff. She appreciates all the support that her CMH co-workers and supervisors give her each day.

“The supervisors and all the staff at CMH are super kind and always resourceful,” Jones said.
