Rachael Swopes, PhD

Citizens Memorial Hospital and CMH Behavioral Health will host a free parenting class on Sept. 7 from 6 - 9 p.m. in CMH Community Room 2, 1500 N. Oakland, Bolivar.

Information will be presented by Rachael Swopes, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist in practice at Butterfield Park Pediatrics and Southside Medical Center Behavioral Health in Bolivar. Dr. Swopes earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Tulsa, Okla. She completed a child clinical psychology internship at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C., and a psychology residency at Behavioral Healthcare of Rural Missouri, Inc., Stockton.

The three hour “1-2-3 Magic” parenting class is a video-led series giving a humorous look at parenting and a serious look at discipline. It will focus on controlling obnoxious behavior through parenting techniques, encouraging behavior that promotes children to start doing what you want them to do, and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

The same class material will be presented monthly through October, and is meant for adults with children ages 2 – 12. No childcare is provided and space is limited. Call 417-326-7840 for more information and to register.
