51 teams compete in the 26th Annual CMH Golf Classic

Sponsors donate nearly $42,000 for the CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship Fund

Fifty-one teams gathered for this year’s annual Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation (CMH) Medical Excellence Golf Classic on Saturday, June 4 at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar. The teams of four competed to raise money for the CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship program. 

The CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship provides financial aid to future doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. To date, the fund has provided assistance of more than $2.3 million to more than 450 students.

The tournament featured two shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Players enjoyed complimentary breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks at the tournament. At the end of the tournament, teams were placed into one of four flights and ranked from first to fourth.

Championship Flight

In the championship flight the Hiland Dairy team (Rob Ballowe, Craig Golmen, Jimmy Dennis and Ryan Russell) took first with a 54; Dr. Monte Kahler’s team came in second (Kim Cribbs, Dave McQuerter, Nate Angus and Bill Roberts) with a 54; the team of R.D. Vestal, Brady Vestal, Dave Layman and Nick Layman placed third with a 54; and the team of Josh Ford, Tyler Johnsen, Jeff Johnsen and Chris Hill finished in fourth with 54.  

A Flight

In the A flight, the team of Ellis, Ellis, Hammons and Johnson PC  (Darrol Cribbs, Cliff Stepp, Lucas Hale and Reggie Hale) took first with 60; the team sponsored by Southwest Baptist University (John Credille, Jerry Kirksey, Kevin Schreiver and Alex Schreiver) placed second with 60; Bank of Bolivar (Brad Gregory, Clark Sheehy, Bryant Chastain and Kevin Cribbs) grabbed third with 60; and Dr. Jeffery Smieshek’s team (Sid Hastings, Jerry Routh, Duane Routh and Larry Stoneking) came in fourth at 60. 

B Flight

The Employee Benefit Design/HealthSmart team (Ken Stephens, Todd Archer, Jim Sanders and Brent Dunn) led flight B with 64; followed by the team sponsored by Mid-Missouri Bank (Randy Sudbrock, James Myers, Rex Austin and Rick Houston) in second with 64; the team of Dr. John Gamble (Grant Cox, Pat McClure, Jeff Johnsen and Howard Niemann) in third at 64; and Bank of Missouri (Mick Nitsch, Mark Clark, Bob Meek and Bruce Jones) in fourth with 64.

C Flight

In flight C, the EMTS team (Charles George, Brandon Baca, Phillip Davolt and Seth Hopwood) took top honors with 67; the team of J.R. Fleeman, Aaron Lakin, Lynn Erickson and Judie Deane came in second at 67; CMH Auxiliary (Dick Davidson, Bob Brown, Joe Shelton and Ray Godfrey) took third with 68; and the Farmers State Bank team (Matt Henenberg, Jim Doke, Darrol Cloyd and Brenda Cloyd) placed fourth at 68.         

Closest-to-the-Pin/Longest Drive

The closest-to-the-pin and longest drive winners included: Dwain Banner (#5); J.D. Lynch (#11); Jeff Johnsen (#17); Jerry Routh (#12) and Isaac Mitchell (#12). Those winners received a shirt from the Silo Pro Shop. 

Each flight’s first place team received a set of Titleist Irons, second place team members were awarded a Titleist Driver, third place teams were awarded a Titleist Hybrid and fourth place team members received a Titleist Wedge from the pro shop. 

“Our sponsors donated nearly $42,000 for this year’s tournament,” says Wren Hall, CMH director of community relations. “None of this would be possible without the support and participation of our amazing sponsors, volunteers and the staff at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club.”

Top tournament sponsor was Reinhart Food Service, donating $5,000 for the golf tournament and the $3,000 sponsor was HealthSmart/Ken Stephens of Employee Benefit Design.
