CMH welcomes hospitalist Mirza Mahmood, M.D., to the medical staff

Citizens Memorial Hospital welcomes Mirza Mahmood, M.D., to the medical staff as a hospitalist. He will begin seeing patients Dec. 1, 2025.

Dr. Mahmood earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten and completed a family medicine residency at the Southern Illinois University Family Medicine Residency Program in Decatur, Illinois. He is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Mahmood previously worked at Ozarks Health Care in West Plains, where he served as chair of medicine and a hospitalist physician since August 2019. He also provided care in Ozarks Health Care’s urgent care and outpatient clinics in West Plains, Mountain Grove and Winona, as well as at the Ozarks Health Zizzer Clinic, a school-based clinic in the West Plains School District.

Dr. Mahmood joins the CMH hospitalist team, including Garrett Alderfer, M.D., Brian Guhl, M.D., Ryan Kedzie, D.O., Benjamin Nelson, D.O., Amit Shah, M.D., and Melissa Gibbs, PA-C.

Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in caring for patients during their hospital stay. They manage and coordinate all aspects of inpatient care, work closely with specialists and oversee daily treatment.
