Dian Hofmeister named recipient of the May 2025 CMH DAISY Award

Dian Hofmeister, RN, received the May 2025 CMH DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She is a registered nurse with Citizens Memorial Hospital’s Hospice.

A patient’s wife nominated her for the DAISY Award for the care Hofmeister gave to her husband.

“Dian’s deep knowledge of the disease process and medications helps her relay symptoms and changes to the doctor to develop the best care for my husband to keep him comfortable, calm and relaxed as we go through this ‘process’ of waiting on the Lord to take him into eternity. Sometimes I find myself getting uptight and emotional and looking for problems before they are even there, and Dian helps me sort things out to reality. She reassures and encourages me that I am doing a good job of taking care of my husband, and I can keep going on another few days. She arranges respite times to let me rest when she realizes that I am worn to a frazzle and don’t even realize it myself. She is not just my husband’s nurse. She is my helper and friend, as well. She is honest and truthful with us both about what we are facing as things change from time to time. And she talks to him, not just to me. This walk is tough, but she is making it doable.”

About the DAISY Award

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Foundation established the award in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 of an auto-immune disease. The international award thanks nurses everywhere.

CMH started the DAISY Award program in January 2019. A CMH or Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation nurse receives the award each month.
