CMH Hospice to offer bereavement support group classes
Citizens Memorial Hospice is hosting bereavement support group classes starting Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m. at CMH Douglas Medical Center, Classroom C, 1155 West Parkview St., in Bolivar. Participants will use the North entrance, “Information Services” door.
The support group classes will be held for eight consecutive sessions, are open to anyone affected by the loss of a loved one and are offered at no charge.
According to Valerie Noblitt, CMH director of home care services, the support group goals are to provide educational information about grief and loss, to assist group members in developing coping and adapting skills, and to offer emotional support.
CMH Hospice chaplains and counselors will lead the sessions including Austin McCrickard, chaplain, Tony Rankin, chaplain, Teresa Pulley, BSW, Terry Warren, LMSW, Angel Townsend, MSW, and Connie Duryee, hospice coordinator. Topics will include understanding the grief experience, handling the complex emotions of grief, managing the stress of change, preparing for holidays and special occasions, and finding meaning after loss.
