Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center at CMH celebrates 15 years

The Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center at CMH will celebrate its 15th anniversary Thursday, Aug. 24, with a come-and-go celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the cancer center. Oncology patients, their families, donors and the community are invited to enjoy refreshments, door prizes and a photo booth.

The facility is a collaboration between Citizens Memorial Hospital and Central Care Cancer Center, based in Salina, Kansas. It is staffed by physicians Leo Shunyakov, M.D., board certified in medical oncology and hematology; Penelope Harris, M.D., board certified in medical oncology and hematology; and Edwin Watts, M.D., board certified in radiation oncology, and advanced practice providers Bethany Martin, NP-C and Bailey Rundel, NP-C.

CMH provides nonreimbursable services and needs cancer patients may experience during treatment. Often this includes social services, dietitian consults, dental care, transportation, groceries and nutritional supplements.

To celebrate the cancer center’s 15th anniversary, the Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation encourages $15 donations in honor or memory of someone special. Donations help Citizens Memorial continue to provide resources for area cancer patients. Donations can be made at the event, online or by calling 417-328-6318.
