CMH to present diabetes education seminar May 23 at Stockton senior center
Citizens Memorial Healthcare (CMH) will host a free diabetes education seminar May 23 at 10 a.m. at the Korth Senior Center in Stockton. Information will be presented by Jessica Miller, certified diabetes educator and registered dietitian at CMH.
Miller calls diabetes “an epidemic.” “Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin – the hormone needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy for daily living,” says Miller. “The seminar is a way for CMH to help educate the growing number of diabetics in southwest Missouri about the evolving disease and what new help is available. It will provide patients with self-management tips and techniques,” she says.
Korth Senior Center plans to begin a monthly diabetes support group. More information anddetails will be discussed at the May 23 seminar.
Korth Senior Center is located at 309 W. Englewood in Stockton. For more information, call the CMH event line at 417-328-7247.
