Physical therapy assists patients with health issues revolving around movement. Physical therapy has the capability of increasing mobility, relieving pain, and improving a patient’s quality of life.
Patients post-stroke, with MS or any other neurological disorder/disease find mobility in everyday tasks to be extremely difficult. At Colonial Springs Rehabilitation Clinic in Buffalo, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to provide patients (that have any of the afore mentioned disabilities) with a new technology that for most patients will dramatically increase strength, movement and function of upper and lower limbs.
The Bioness Foot Drop System is a wireless device one of our physical therapy staff members will place on the leg of a patient. The physical therapist will activate the device utilizing a wireless keypad that controls the electrical stimulations the Foot Drop System sends out to nerves located in the lower limb. The device is harmless, and our physical therapy staff is able to monitor and direct patients as they perform functional mobility that facilitate normal movement patterns.
The Bioness Hand Rehabilitation System is similar to the Bioness Foot Drop System. The Hand Rehabilitation System is a device specifically designed to stimulate the upper extremity and specifically assist patients who have difficulty with grasping, twisting, and general upper limb function.
If you or someone you know could benefit from one or both of the Bioness rehabilitation systems, please contact Colonial Springs Rehabilitation Clinic at: 417-345-5413. Do you have questions about Bioness? I’d be happy to answer them! You may also reach me at: 417-345-5413.
