The Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center (CJBCC) at Citizens Memorial Hospital offers a variety of support groups for cancer patients and their families.

CJBCC September Events

  • The American Cancer Society (ACS) will offer Look Good…Feel Better on Monday, September 10 beginning at 1 p.m. at the CJBCC.  Look Good…Feel Better is designed for women ages 16 and older (currently undergoing treatment) that are dealing with hair loss and skin changes from chemotherapy and radiation.  Patients will learn specific skin, hair and make-up techniques unique to those undergoing treatment.  Attendees also take home a makeup package valued at $200.  Registration is required.  Call the ACS at 417-447-1475 to register.
  • The Cancer Support Group will meet on Friday, September 21 at 8:30 a.m. in the CMH cafeteria. The group is for former and current cancer patients, their family members and caregivers.  For more information about the Cancer Support Community Alliance, contact Robert McMillan, LCSW at 417-328-7907.
  • Tickets are now available for the Citizens Memorial Hospital/Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation’s 15th annual Burgundy Ball.  Country music singer-songwriter Jo Dee Messina will headline the event. The community appreciation event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m., at the University Plaza Convention Center, 333 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway, Springfield.  Proceeds from the event support programs and services for patients and their families at the Carrie J.
