“From providing medical care in the hospital, clinics and long-term care facilities to running vital programs in our communities, our CMH employees are committed to supporting the health and well-being of our residents,” says Donald J. Babb, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of CMH. “This special week is about celebrating our employees who care for our patients and residents every day.”

The nation’s largest health care event, National Hospital Week, dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community-wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.

The American Health Care Association says the National Long–Term Care Week provides an opportunity to reflect on how long–term care and every skilled care center promotes quality for their residents, patients, families and staffs. Long–term care is an important aspect of life for Americans.

CMH operates 32 family medicine and specialty care clinics in eight counties in addition to an array of hospital-based services. CMH also operates six long-term care facilities in Ash Grove, Bolivar (2), Buffalo, El Dorado Springs and Stockton. CMH also operates one residential care facility in Bolivar.

Locally, CMH is celebrating with a luncheon for all CMH employees and volunteers on Friday, May 13. For more information about National Hospital and Long-Term Care Week, contact the CMH Marketing Department at 417–328–7245.
