The first Doctors’ Day observance was March 30, 1933, in Winder, Ga. The idea for the observance came from Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Cha Almond, and the date was the anniversary of the first use of general anesthetic in surgery. The day was created to pay tribute to physicians and their contribution to society.

Doctors’ Day became an official national holiday in 1990. Citizens Memorial Hospital continues to honor this tradition and the hard work and dedication of the CMH doctors.

“Please take time to thank your physician for the hard work and care they put into each individual patient,” said Donald J. Babb, CEO/Executive Director of CMH.  “The CMH physicians pride themselves in being a part of your community.”
