The Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center (CJBCC) at Citizens Memorial Hospital offers a variety of support groups for cancer patients and their families.

CJBCC September Events

  • The American Cancer Society (ACS) will offer Look Good…Feel Better on Monday, Sept. 12 beginning at 1 p.m. at the CJBCC.  Look Good…Feel Better is designed for women ages 16 and older (currently undergoing treatment) that are dealing with hair loss and skin changes from chemotherapy and radiation.  Patients will learn specific skin, hair and make-up techniques unique to those undergoing treatment.  Attendees also take home a makeup package valued at $200.  Registration is required.  Call the ACS at 417-447-1475 to register.
  • The Cancer Support Community Alliance will meet on Friday, Sept. 16 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Bolivar Technical College. The group is for former and current cancer patients, their family members and caregivers.  For more information about the Cancer Support Community Alliance, contact Robert McMillan, LCSW at 417-328-7907. Bolivar Technical College is located at 1135 N. Oakland, Bolivar.
  • Save the date! Para-athlete champion, actress, model and dancer  Amy Purdy  will headline Citizens Memorial Hospital/Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation’s 13th annual Burgundy Ball. The community appreciation event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. at the University Plaza Convention Center, 333 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway, Springfield.  Reinhart Food Service is the presenting sponsor of the evening.
