48 teams compete in the 24th Annual CMH Golf Classic
Sponsors donate nearly $50,000 for the CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship Fund
Forty-eight teams gathered for this year’s annual Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation (CMH) Medical Excellence Golf Classic on Saturday, June 7, at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar, Mo. The teams of four competed to raise money for the CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship program.
The CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship provides financial aid to future doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. To date, the fund has provided assistance of more than $2 million to more than 400 students.
After a rain delayed morning, the tournament featured two shotgun starts around 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Players enjoyed complimentary breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks at the tournament. At the end of the tournament, teams were placed into one of four flights and ranked from first to fourth.
In the championship flight the Hiland Dairy team (Ballowe, Goleman, Cresap and Dennis) took first with a 51, Dr. Monte Kahler’s team came in second (Cribbs, Lehr, Angus and Wilkerson) with a 53, Dr. Jeff Smieshek’s team (Hastings, Routh, Routh and Gover) placed third with a 57 and Ozarks Coca Cola/Dr Pepper (Moore, Welch, Lockhart and Quennoz) finished in fourth with 58.
In the A flight, the team of Dr. and Mrs. John Gamble (Elliott, Elliott, Johnsen and Johnsen) took first with 61, the team sponsored by Commerce Bank (Moreland, Hensley, Hensley and Roy) placed second with 61, Mid-Missouri Bank (Sudbrock, Boyd, Austin and Myers) grabbed third with 61 and Ellis, Ellis, Hammons & Johnson (Cribbs, Hale, McGuire and Miller) came in fourth at 61.
The Cintas Fire Protection team (Jones, Bryant, Wilson and Brill) led flight B with 64, followed by the team sponsored by Trust Company of the Ozarks (Smith, Hutchinson, Keltner and Spangler) in second with 64, the team of Alexander Open Systems (Simon, Ingle, Moores and Ivie) in third at 64 and the Employee Benefit Design/HealthSmart team (Stephens, Archer, McIntyre and Smith) in fourth with 64.
In flight C, BKD (Brotherton, Aubachol, Mayo and Schawo) took top honors with 66, the O’Bannon Bank team (Hall, Grainger, Cole and Behrle) came in second at 66, the CMH Board of Directors team (Wilson, Hoover, Elton and Hoover) took third with 66 and the Bank of Bolivar team (Gregory, Cribbs, Gillogy and Schatz) placed fourth at 66.
Longest drive and closest to the pin challenges were awarded to Steve Hutchinson, Dave Gover, Jim Russell and Adam Wilkerson.
Each flight’s first place team received a set of Titleist AP1 Irons 4-AW, second place team members were awarded a Titleist 913 Driver, third place teams were awarded a Scotty Cameron Putter and fourth place team members received a Titleist Prize from the pro shop.
“Our sponsors donated nearly $50,000 for this year’s tournament,” says Wren Hall, CMH director of community relations. “None of this would be possible without the support and participation of our amazing sponsors, volunteers and the staff at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club.”
Top tournament sponsors were DeWitt and Associates, Inc. and Reinhart Food Service, donating $5,000 each for the golf tournament and the $3,000 sponsor was HealthSmart/Ken Stephens of Employee Benefit Design.
