Missouri Senate honors Citizens Memorial Hospital
CMH honored for their management and staff, congratulated on 30th anniversary
Honoring Citizens Memorial Hospital for its 30th anniversary, the Missouri Senate drafted a resolution by the 96th General Assembly to CMH. The resolution was presented on Dec. 21 by Michael Parson, State Senator of the 28th District to Donald J. Babb, Chief Executive Officer of CMH/Executive Director of Citizens Memorial Healthcare Foundation.
According to the resolution, the Missouri Senate join unanimously to extend their most sincere congratulations to the management and staff of Citizens Memorial Hospital of Bolivar with their very best wishes for continued growth and success as CMH celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Citizens Memorial Hospital opened on Sept. 28, 1982, and has grown significantly in 30 years. CMH’s annual budget has grown from $3.6 million in 1982, to a current budget of more than $328 million. CMH’s facilities, which started at 45,000 square feet, now total nearly 1 million square feet. Starting with three physicians and 90 employees, CMH has also grown to a medical staff of nearly 150, and 1,700 employees with facilities in eight counties. In fact, CMH is Bolivar’s largest employer, contributing more than $50 million in salaries to the local economy.
CMH is a fully-integrated healthcare system devoted to exceptional patient care provided by leading physicians and caring staff. Citizens Memorial Hospital is located in Bolivar, Mo., and serves Cedar, Dade, Dallas, Hickory, northern Greene, Polk and St. Clair Counties. In addition to hospital services, CMH consists of 36 primary care and specialty care physician clinics, Senior Health Center, home health, hospice, and rehabilitation services. Citizens Memorial Healthcare Foundation includes six long-term care facilities, one residential care facility, five independent living communities, homemaker plus, health transit services, and home medical equipment.
CMH was awarded the prestigious Davies Award of Excellence by the Health Information and Management Systems Society, and has been recognized for its innovative efforts associated with its organizational patient electronic medical record system. CMH was also named a Most Wired and Most Wireless Hospital, and was named one of the Top 10 Rural Hospitals in America. CMH is one of the 10 largest employers in southwest Missouri. In 2010, CMH was awarded the Missouri Quality Award, which is modeled after the coveted Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award.
