Junior Volunteers

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, approximately 64.5 million people volunteered through or for an organization last year and 22.6 percent of those people were between the ages of 16 and 24. That equates to more than 14 million teens that have given about 1.5 billion hours of their time and energy to help various volunteer organizations to make an impact nationwide.

Annually, CMH Auxiliary hosts the Junior Volunteer program. This program gives local teens that are at least 15 years old, the chance to become involved at CMH. Through the volunteer program, teens work in various aspects of healthcare including: guest relations; radiology; sports medicine; the wellness unit; and nursing units. Students also experience positions such as: activities assistants at Butterfield Residential Care Center and Senior Health Center; tech assistants in physician offices; as well as tech assistants in pediatric and adult rehabilitation. Sessions are offered in June, July and August, and students can participate in any or all of the sessions if they choose to do so. Applications for the Junior Volunteer program are accepted in April and May and can be completed online by clicking here. Applications must be received by May 10 to qualify this year. For more information, call the CMH Information Center at 888-328-6010 or 417-328-6010.
