CMH and CCCC celebrate breast cancer survivors with a free brunch Oct. 4

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) and Central Care Cancer Center (CCCC) will host a free brunch for breast cancer survivors on Friday, Oct. 4 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Community Rooms at CMH located at 1500 N. Oakland in Bolivar.

The event will celebrate life after cancer with presentations made by: hematologist/oncologist Shamila Garg, M.D.; Alece Elliott, CMH Home Medical Equipment (HME) and Pastor Michelle Nordan of Countryside Assembly.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a guest who has supported them though their breast cancer journey.

“Over the last 30 years, CMH has developed a comprehensive and coordinated breast care program that’s convenient and close to home,” says Robert McMillan, director of oncology support at CMH.  “From diagnosis to treatment, our cancer team will work with you to determine the optimal course of treatment and develop an individualized care plan that’s specific to your case.”

The CMH treatment team includes the highly-skilled surgeons at CMH Surgical Services, pathologists, radiologists, Ob/Gyns, family physicians and expert medical and radiation oncologists at Central Care Cancer Center.  Access to breast cancer clinical trials is available to patients who qualify.  Patient support services available through the Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center include educational materials, wigs and mastectomy supplies, an oncology social worker, registered dietitian, massage therapist, support groups and more. The newest addition to the CMH cancer program is the Tremain Family Hospitality House, which recently opened its doors to guests this summer.
