48 teams compete in the 23nd Annual CMH Golf Classic
Sponsors donate nearly $50,000 for the CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship Fund
Forty-eight teams gathered for this year’s annual Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation (CMH) Medical Excellence Golf Classic on Saturday, June 1, at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar, Mo. The teams of four competed to raise money for the CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship program.
The CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship provides financial aid to future doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. To date, the fund has provided assistance of more than $2 million to more than 400 students.
The tournament featured two shotgun starts at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Players enjoyed complimentary breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks at the tournament. At the end of the tournament, teams were placed into one of four flights and ranked from first to fourth.
In the championship flight Dr. Monte Kahler’s team (Cribbs, Wilkerson, Lehr and Angus) took first with a 52, Hiland Dairy came in second (Ballowe, Tarwater, Speight and Gray) with a 58, Bolivar Technical College (MacLaughlin, Bryant, Lotz and Jones) placed third with a 59 and Southwest Baptist University (Credille, Clardy, Hollis and Hollis) finished in fourth with 60.
In the A flight, the team of Johnny Smith took first with 63, the team sponsored by Dr. Jeff Smieshek placed second with 63, McKesson Medical Surgical grabbed third with 63 and Heim, Young & Associates came in fourth at 63.
The O’Bannon Bank team led flight B with 65, followed by the team sponsored by Derek Hunter in second with 65, the team of Clay Meyer in third at 65 and the Stephens Pharmacy team in fourth with 66.
In flight C, Kosma Mobile X-Ray Co. took top honors with 69, the Brian Wilson team came in second at 69, the Morelock-Ross team took third with 69 and the Dr. Mark Bult team placed fourth at 70.
Longest drive and closest to the pin challenges were awarded to Nate Angus, Adam Wilkerson, Jim Elton and Reece Tarwater.
Each flight’s first place team received a set of Titleist AP1 Irons 4-AW, second place team members were awarded a Titleist 913 Driver, third place teams were awarded a Scotty Cameron Putter and fourth place team members received a Titleist Prize from the pro shop.
“Our sponsors donated nearly $50,000 for this year’s tournament,” says Wren Hall, CMH director of community relations. “None of this would be possible without the support and participation of our amazing sponsors, volunteers and the staff at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club.”
Top tournament sponsors were DeWitt and Associates, Inc. and Reinhart FoodService, donating $5,000 each for the golf tournament and the $3,000 sponsor was BMI-HealthPlans/Ken Stephens of Employee Benefit Design.Next year’s CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club on Saturday, June 7, 2014.
