Sponsors donate nearly $50,000 for the CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship Fund

Sixty teams gathered for this year’s annual Citizens Memorial Healthcare (CMH) Medical Excellence Golf Classic on Saturday, June 2, at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar, Mo. The teams of four competed to raise money for the CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship program.

The CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship provides financial aid to future doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. To date, the fund has provided assistance of more than $2 million to more than 400 students.

The tournament featured two shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Players enjoyed complimentary breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks at the tournament. At the end of the tournament, teams were placed into one of four flights and ranked from first to fourth.

Championship Flight

In the championship flight Dr. Monte Kahler’s team (Kim Cribbs, Adam Wilkerson, David Lehr and Joey Parr) took first with a 53, Creator Designs came in second (Dwain Banner, Darin Banner, Nick Layman and Brent White) with a 54, Hiland Dairy (Mark Speight, Rob Ballowe, Aaron Elliott and Craig Goleman) placed third with a 55 and Bank of Bolivar (Brad Gregory, Brad Nipper, Bill Roberts and Kevin Cribbs) finished in fourth with 55. 

A Flight

In the A flight, the Employee Benefit Design & BMI team (Ken Stephens, Doug Brandt, John Liston and Dave Gipson) took first with 62, the team of Justin Hamlet, David Hamlet, Kelly Roe and Shaun Coker came in second with 62, Consumer Credit Counseling (Mike Cherry, Lelan Burch, Eldon Combs and Scott Roberts)  grabbed third with 62 and Dr. John Best’s team (Dr. John Best, Darrol Cribbs, Kim Cribbs and Adam Lotz) came in fourth at 63. 

B Flight

Dr. Mark Bult’s team (Dr. Mark Bult, Joseph Arnold, Jack Muench and Brian Steele) led flight B with 66, followed by the Alexander Open System’s team (Luke Simon, James Ingle, Gabe Miller and Jeff Derryberry) in second with 66, Stephens Pharmacy (Mike Stephens, Gerald Stephens, Bill Jones and Larry Jones) in third at 67 and the CMH Board team (Kerry Douglas, Pat Douglas, Wayne Wilson and Dr. Jack Hacker) in fourth with 68.

C Flight

In flight C, Gallagher (Chris Miller, Dan Williams, Jim Bergman and Gary Fulbright) took top honors with 70, the Purdum team (Justin Bryant, Jason Isenberger, Joe Gambriel and Chuck Mauck) came in second at 70, Dr. Doug Horner’s team (Dr. Doug Horner, Greg Elliott, Grant Cox and J.D. Lynch) took third with 70 and the Derek Hunter team (Jeffrey Hunter, Paul Hunter, Austin Hunter and Michael Hunter) placed fourth at 71. 

Jerry Routh was awarded Titleist Pro V1 golf balls for having the longest drive of the tournament and Kevin Cribbs won the closest to the pin challenge and received Titleist Pro V1 golf balls.

Each flight’s first place team received a set of Callaway Razr Irons, second place team members were awarded a Callaway Razr Fit Driver, third place teams were awarded an Odessey Prototype Putter and fourth place team members received a Callaway Chevron Backpack. 

“Our sponsors donated nearly $50,000 for this year’s tournament,” says Wren Hall, CMH director of community relations. “None of this would be possible without the support and participation of our amazing sponsors, volunteers and the staff at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club.”

Top tournament sponsors were Banta Foods, a division of Reinhart FoodService, donating $5,000 for the golf tournament and the $3,000 sponsor was BMI-HealthPlans/Ken Stephens of Employee Benefit Design.
