Stockton Nursing Home, Inc. to merge with Citizens Memorial Healthcare
Citizens Memorial Healthcare (CMH) board of directors and Donald J. Babb, chief executive officer/executive director of CMH announce the merger of a new long-term healthcare facility. Stockton Nursing Home, Inc., will merge with Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation on Sept. 1, 2011, pending approval from Stockton Nursing Home, Inc. membership, which meets on July 13 at 7 p.m. Stockton Nursing Home will be the sixth long-term care facility operated by CMH.
“In some ways, it is a very difficult decision to end our time as a community-owned facility. However, when presented with the opportunity to strengthen our future through a merger with a recognized leader in health care, the decision was rather easy to make. We believe that blending the earned trust our community has shown in us over the last 38 years with the expertise and vision of CMH creates a unique opportunity to offer exceptional health care to our community,” says Melinda Gumm, president of the Stockton Nursing Home board of directors. “This merger still requires the approval of our corporate membership, but we feel confident that our members will embrace the opportunity to partner with CMH”.
“Stockton Nursing Home has served the residents, employees and the Stockton community very well throughout its history,” says Babb. “As long-time providers of similar services, we are excited to have this opportunity to continue to provide quality service to existing and future residents of this facility, and to continue to provide quality healthcare to the Stockton community.”
CMH has operated Stockton Family Medical Center since 1989, with Dennis Boeke, D.O., Steven Butcher, D.O., and family nurse practitioner Kim Miller, R.N., FNP. CMH also operates a Home Medical Equipment store and Rehabilitation Services, which include physical, occupational and speech therapy. The new Stockton Family Medical Center, located at 1521 S. Third St., will open in August and will house the clinic, Home Medical Equipment and the Stockton Rehabilitation Clinic.
With years of providing medical and physician services and therapy, and a close geographical proximity to the hospital, CMH is uniquely qualified to serve the Stockton area. “CMH will continue to provide high quality services to seniors in Stockton. We want to continue to invest in the Stockton Nursing Home facility and in the community using additional resources to enhance the services and to adapt to meet the changing needs,” says Babb.
CMH operates five long-term care facilities in the following locations: Ash Grove Healthcare Facility, Ash Grove; Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility, Bolivar; Colonial Springs Healthcare Center, Buffalo; Community Springs Healthcare Facility, El Dorado Springs; and Parkview Healthcare Facility, Bolivar. CMH also operates one residential care facility, Butterfield Residential Care Center, Bolivar.
