Men’s Health Day to be held June 17 at Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center at CMH
One Stop Pit Stop for Good Health
Citizens Memorial Healthcare (CMH) and Central Care Cancer Center encourage men to be active in their health by hosting “One Stop Pit Stop for Good Health” - a free men’s health day on Friday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center at CMH in Bolivar.
“June is National Men’s Health Month,” says Donald J. Babb, CEO/Executive Director of CMH. “According to the Centers of Disease Control (CDC), women are 100% more likely to visit the doctor for an annual examination and preventative services than men. Men’s Health Day is an opportunity for us to raise awareness of preventable health problems and educate and encourage men of all ages to be active and participate in their health.”
CMH will offer free prostate-specific antigen testing (PSA) testing for men 40 and older. The PSA screening test is a tool physicians use to monitor elevated levels of PSA in the blood. The PSA test is a blood sample and does not require fasting. Other screenings and wellness information available at the event will include: chair massage 10 a.m. to noon; colorectal screening kits; hearing; blood pressure; height and weight; advanced healthcare directives; nutrition; Reel Recovery retreat information, fly casting and fly tying demonstrations; CMH Men’s Prostate Support Group; Central Care Cancer Center; sleeping disorders and much more.
The event includes a healthy grilled lunch and door prizes for both men and ladies. A short tribute will take place at noon with a balloon release celebrating all cancer survivors.
