Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center offers monthly support groups and services

The Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center at Citizens Memorial Healthcare offers monthly support groups for cancer patients and their families.

Women’s Cancer Support Group

The women’s cancer support group for survivors and family members meets the second Thursday every other month at 11:30 a.m.  The next meeting will be Dec. 8 at the Carrie J. Men’s Cancer Support Group

The men’s cancer support group meets the third Monday of each month.  The next meeting will be Dec. 19  at 11:30 a.m. at the Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center at CMH.  Robert McMillan, LCSW, will present on “Dealing with Cancer During the Holidays”.  Lunch will be served and spouses are encouraged to attend.  For more information about the men’s cancer support group, contact Robert McMillan at 417-328-7907 or Steve Keller at 417-328-6358.

Cancer Support Group

The High Hopes cancer support group meets the second Thursday  every other month at 7 p.m. at the Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center at CMH.  The group will meet Jan. 12.  For more information contact facilitator Linda Grant at 417-326-4894.

Healthcare Directives

The third Monday of every month, staff at the Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center at CMH are available to assist with durable power of attorney for healthcare directives.  This month staff is available from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Cancer Center on Dec. 19  For more information, contact Robert McMillan, LCSW, at 417-328-7907.

Yoga

Yoga classes are offered at the Cancer Center every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:15 p.m.  Basic beginners chair yoga is available at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.  Classes are $5 per session and are taught by certified yoga teacher Jenny Mayor.  For more information contact Mayor at 417-684-7159.
