Description:

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) and Shannon Calvert, M.D., board-certified pediatrician with Butterfield Park Pediatrics, will host a “girls only” event for tweens on May 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the CMH Community Rooms, located at the hospital, 1500 N. Oakland, Bolivar. The Girls Night In event is open to girls ages 9 to 13 and their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, teachers, caregivers and/or mentors. The event will focus on “How to be a Lady” presented by Jacqueline Rogers, founder and executive director of The Etiquette Academy in Springfield. “The ‘in between’ years of a young girls life are the perfect opportunity to discuss being healthy inside and out,” says Dr. Calvert. “Tween girls are impressionable and this event will provide information about posture, confidence, poise, communication, table manners, first impressions and much more. We want everyone in the room to feel comfortable, have fun, learn invaluable lessons, and ask lots of questions.” Since 2002, Rogers has been teaching students manners and character development programs. She is certified by the Etiquette Institute of St. Louis and has written her own etiquette curriculum for children, which she uses during her training sessions. Rogers’ educational experience includes a background in education received from Liberty University. She serves her community in various ways through volunteering in numerous activities and has spent the last several summers teaching etiquette at a Missouri youth camp. The event includes fun door prizes and a light multi-course meal. Cost is $5 per person. Space is limited and reservations are requested. For more information or to make a reservation, call 417-328-7247.
