What is Occupational Therapy?
In your lifetime, did you know someone who broke a bone? Maybe in third grade, “Bobby Jones” was swinging too hard and flipped off the monkey bars, landing on and breaking his arm. Or maybe you’ve known of someone who was elderly and had difficulty caring for themselves in their own home. In both instances, occupational therapy would have allowed both individuals with varying degrees of disability to recover and gain skills previously lost.
Occupational therapy at CMH assists children and adults alike at various rehabilitation locations across southwest Missouri. The services we offer are wide and varied, dependent upon the condition of the individuals who seek or require occupational therapy.
Last week you met Dee & Michelle in Pediatric Rehabilitation, who also work with children with Autism. At each of our rehabilitation facilities, we also cater to patients with needs including, but not limited to: upper extremity broken bones, surgical repairs, wheelchair positioning for comfort and function, home evaluations, adaptive equipment and neurological issues that affect function and safety.
Anything that limits you from performing daily activities or prevents you from living a quality life may be treated with occupational therapy.
If you’re interested in learning more about occupational therapy, or would like to know how to begin occupational therapy, please call me at: 417-345-5413. My staff or I will be happy to chat with you!
